Wordless Wednesday No. 76 - Sydney Harbour Bridge
Sydney Harbour Bridge - Observatory Park
Observatory Hill Tree
Ok, I know I have not been blogging as regular as I should, but having to apply for my own position at work is way to exhausting at the moment... Although, I did get out the other day to get the photos above, including the time-lapse project I also did... Let me explain!
Bayer, who are celebrating their 150 years, has a blimp that is flying people around. A friend of mine in Auckland put out a call asking if anyone was going to be out, if they could photograph it, as his brother would be onboard! So, I thought I'd help, and arranged a location to be. His brother texted me saying it would be an afternoon/evening flight around 5-7pm. So it would be a 'facing' the east composition. I thought do I do north side, Blues Point, or South Side, Observatory Hill, I opted for the later. Anyway, whilst waiting, 5pm came... And went, then suddenly, I got the text, its a "NO GO" due to winds! What to do now?
So, as I had the gear in the car, I thought I might get a shot of the Harbour Bridge whilst here, and I had my tripod as well. It wasn't until I got to my spot, I thought about doing a time-lapse of the sunset against the bridge! I had done one before, so the settings would be ok (just a little more thought) to give it a go! So I set it all up, and let the camera simply do its thing.
Settings are, if you're interested, A/V, F9.0 and ISO200. Then I set the intervalometer at a 10 second interval, with a 2 second countdown. What I should have done, was for a 5 second interval, which then would have given me double the images and a longer video! Then, in Lightroom, a sharpen, and boosted the blue, red and green spectrum's only, and VERY slightly increased temp... I also cropped at 1600 x 900 which is a better 'video' output, and then 'synced ALL 800 odd images so as settings are the same. I then outputted the video at 24 frames per second, a plug-in that you can find for Lightroom...

Wordless Wednesday No. 74 - A Hong Kong Sunrise
"Sunrise over Victoria Harbour"
"Sunrise over Victoria Harbour"
I've just returned from a hectic short trip, down to Melbourne and then onto Hong Kong. The weather, typically, in Melbourne went from clear blue sky's and sunny warm conditions, to that of pouring rain and cold, yet in Hong Kong, it was typically hazy. However, on our last day, we woke to the most stunning sunrise coming in over Victoria Harbour!
I will post some more photos tomorrow, mainly some aviation though, of the trip to the Avalon Airshow!

Wordless Wednesday No. 73 - Blast from the past
Family Photo 2008
Ok, just to explain, a little, about this pic... I came across (again) this pic recently when clearing some files on a HDD. An important thing about this one in particular, is it is, possibly, the last 'family' photo taken, as not too long after it was taken, Pa fell ill, and later passed, and then 12 months later, L also suddenly passed as well...
So, it is important to have one in every family; that 'annoying uncle' that likes to take a family photo, right?

Wordless Wednesday No. 72. - Straight Lines at Night
The other night, I was out with a mate and wanted to try something a little new, and different. We had supplies, we had a location and we had the time... But, alas, we did not have the skill, so it was a dismal failure (on this occasion...). However, I will try again soon enough, with the correct stuff!
Plans for a new car are also on hold, for now, so it will mean that the good ole Suzuki will keep on keeping on (as it always has). It just means that passengers in the back seat will have to make do with Bronty's nose art on the windows and a little dog hair on the seat! Oh well... Luckily, for her, she is still cute and adorable!
Plans are also well underway for an upcoming trip to Hong Kong, where I will make a visit to the Races to inspect it turf track. I know the Course Manager there, and this will be a great opportunity to catch up and have a chat about the turf research programs going on in Asia.

Wordless Wednesday No. 71 - In the Navy...
Jayden mucking around |
Jayden and Mum |
Next Monday, my nephew Jayden will enter the Australian Navy as a submariner... On the recent Australia Day long weekend, we had a 'farewell party' (of sorts, and also celebrate this great country we live in), and these photos are just a bit of fun, as my sister bought a 'party outfit' of sailors suit, as he doesn't actually have his uniform yet!!
We have gone from the heat of last week, c. 46c, to now having floods right along the East Coast of Australia. It isn't as bad as two years ago, but the flood scene is still devistating to see. Fortunately, in Northern NSW, the flooding and damage is minimal, unlike areas north like Grafton in particular, or right along the Queensland Coast.

Wordless Wednesday No. 68 - Mellow Yellow Caves of Vietnam
Ok, NOT quite wordless, as it is also "Thematic Photographic - Mellow Yellow" as well...
Here, we are deep in the 'Surprise Caves' of Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. The theme (mainly due to the types of lights used) has a distinct yellow hue about them. First, we have the "Pointing Finger", even though an English Gentleman (well into his 70's if not 80's suggested his 'magazine' suggested otherwise).
"Pointing Finger"
Here is a hsot of the roof of the caves, it was difficult to photograph inside, given the low light, number of people and the speed in which we had to walk...

Wordless Wednesday No. 65 - A Movable Feast!
Just a few words to explain - if I can? George St here in Sydney, is one of the busiest streets in the CBD. It was closed on Saturday night, for the 'Food Trucks' to be stationed, for the 'Movable Feast'! this was a great concept, but it was far from 'movable' as there was far too many people, it was gridlocked! BUT, it was a great thing to do on a Saturday evening... Now, onto the wordless...
