Wordless Wednesday No. 71 - In the Navy...

Next Monday, my nephew Jayden will enter the Australian Navy as a submariner... On the recent Australia Day long weekend, we had a 'farewell party' (of sorts, and also celebrate this great country we live in), and these photos are just a bit of fun, as my sister bought a 'party outfit' of sailors suit, as he doesn't actually have his uniform yet!!

We have gone from the heat of last week, c. 46c, to now having floods right along the East Coast of Australia. It isn't as bad as two years ago, but the flood scene is still devistating to see. Fortunately, in Northern NSW, the flooding and damage is minimal, unlike areas north like Grafton in particular, or right along the Queensland Coast.

Hoo roo for now...

  1. Should I actually admit that all I know of the Aussie Navy is from Sea Patrol. Congrats to your nephew.

  7. Fun photos! Glad the heat has cooled off some, but sorry to hear of the flooding. We have some flood warnings in our area tonight, mostly because many storm drains are still covered with snow and the ground frozen solid, so no place for the rain to go. We've gone from one extreme to the other during the past 24 hours. Monday it was a mild 40F, Tuesday we had rain most of the day and set a new record high of 54F -- and now we are hovering just above freezing and waiting for the rain to change over to snow (6 to 10 inches of that possible!). Crazy!

  8. Ah, a sailor's life. Looks like that boy is mixing it up pretty good. I hope it cools off down there and the water doesn't rise. You have had some real wild weather on the other side of the world.

  9. Fun photos heheh! I wish your nephew a bright future and all the best :-)

Flooding must be awful I'm in Central London which doesn't suffer much flooding but we have had floods recently over other parts of the UK due to the snow melting and rain truly awful.

    Have a fantastico week ;-)
