Queensland flooding...

UPDATE 12/01/2011: 75% of Queensland is now declared as flood affected, which is TWICE as big as Texas, and over FIVE times larger than the United Kingdom...

This recent flooding up in Queensland, is so devastating that words can simply not say how bad it really is... Here is a collection of footage, and images I have sourced to highlight JUST how bad it is. Some areas are under 20m of flood water! Its been claimed that the area of Queensland under flood conditions, is bigger than France and Germany combined!

Toowoomba, at over 700m ABOVE sea level, had over 300mm rain in a 24 hour period alone. Here is some footage, and some photos...

    my heart & prayers go out to all affected! we have been watching this on the TV as well. has it ever happened this bad before? I have never heard of it. Hugs!

    I think the cars picture is one of the most dramatic ones I have seen. I can't imagine getting that much rain so fast...
    A friend of mine spent two years on the Gold Coast..and went home today to start making calls to friends in the area of the flooding to check on everyone.

    Incredible. News coverage here in the states doesn't even begin to tell the story. It appears that years of drought have come to an abrupt end.

    Well I wanted to see some pictures of this flooding as it has been on our TV. It is worse than I could have imagined. The fact that the area is larger than Texas speaks volumes to me. God bless and I hope life can return to normal at some point.
