Blog Lovin... (Award??)

A very dear blogger friend of mine got this award, and I thought it was a great idea, so I thought I would do the same...

Basically this means we pass along the award, to be shared or just so you know, that I read you every day and your Blog makes a difference in my life....

So now I will do my duty and list 15 blogs that I read. Thank for making my life more full because of what you write.

1. Thank and link to the person who nominated you.

Thanks to Dackel Princess for originally posting HER award and allowing me to do the same... I had been reading your blog for many years now, and it was great finally meeting you in Berlin last year... You were also there for me, through the most darkest of darkest times in my life, to which I will ALWAYS be indebted to you...

2. Share seven random facts about yourself.

  1. Whilst I have a Greyhound, my dream dog is a Blue Merle, Great Dane bitch... One day...
  2. I suppose, and it's widely know, I like to travel... I calculated out my 'miles' the other week for a presentation I was giving. When I got home, I stumbled on a website that does it a lot easier than the way I did it!!
  3. Coffee is my arch nemesis... I love it, instant, brewed whatever, just give me coffee... NOW!!
  4. My favourite flower, is really something exotic... Strelitzia
  5. I am driving my THIRD Suzuki... I have had one Suzuki Sierra, and two Grand Vitaras!!
  6. I have been in the horticulture industry, primarily turf related discipline, for 27 years!!! OMG!
  7. Ex gymnast/trampolinist, swimmer and footy player... Where did it all go pear shaped (body shape - its more of a beer gut nowadays!

3. Pass the award along to 5 deserving blog buddies.

Play along.... Go on, its free!!!!

Random Dozen #1

OK, so I thought I might try this meme that a friend of mine is doing... Here goes!

1. Would you rather host party or simply attend a party? Any day, I like to host the party... That way, I can have a drink (or two)!

2. Tell us about the most memorable party you've been to. I have been to a couple of 'Fancy Dress' parties, but these are really NOT my scene. So it is easier for me to say what was NOT memorable! But when I was on stage, there was some fantastic 'After Show Parties' that's for sure!

3. What is one thing you hope for in the after-life? After-life? Well that is TOO easy... To see 'L' again and all of the babies that became 'Angle Babies'...

4. What do you enjoy most about sunshine? Oh the warmth! After working outside for close to 20 years before moving into the office, I so miss it... BUT, I am also grateful I am not out there all the time now with Skin Cancers needing checking every so often...

5. When you attend a bridal/baby shower, do you prefer to bring your own gift or chip in with others to buy a larger gift? I like to give gifts that are a little bit quirky, but still useful, and when it comes to the kids birthdays etc (nephews/nieces), I love to think of educational toys that just HAPPEN to be noisy!!!

6. Would you rather have a FREE week of having your house cleaned or all of your meals cooked for you and your family? Hmmm... Can I have a half a week of both and help out with both as well? I love cooking, and I quite like cleaning, so this is a hard one indeed!

7. What song describes your mood today? Gloria Gaynor's, "I Will Survive" (but from the Australian Hit, Priscilla; Queen of the Desert) Sing the opening line with me now, come on, you KNOW the words... "First I was afraid, I was petrified. I kept thinking I could never live without you by my side..."

8. What is something you received for your own bridal shower/wedding that you still own or use? (If you are not married, feel free to sub a gift you received a long time ago.) We got a Pasta Maker, and we only started using it in the year prior to L dieing. She loved it, and it was a lot of work, but my GOD, did it taste good! I think I might have a 'Pasta Party'! Then all of the people can help me clean after the party!

9. Your favorite flavor of ice cream is? Chocolate, Rum 'n' Raisin... YUMM!!

10. When was the last time you felt "tested?" Almost every day since April last year...

11. "A Roast Dinner" is a food that once I start eating I find really hard to stop."

12. "L" was and ALWAYS will be, the best motivation.

In other news, I am not having much fun today, stuck at home sick and it is raining something fierce... But I am enjoying the new bed, when I am in it that is...

Thematic Photographic: - GLASS (Laundry Door)

Carmi, over at Written Inc, has created a new theme challenge, Thematic Photographic, with this week's theme of glass. Now where I work, I have lots of inspiration of cityscape glass buildings, horticultural glasshouses and the like. But, alas, I am now at home when I see what the theme is. So what do I do?

Well, I simply grab a shot of our laundry door, of course! As you may remember, we renovated this a few months back. The Leadlight glass work in the door, fights in well with our 1928 Bungalow, so it seemed fitting to put this in. L wanted it more than me though...

Now his rules are pretty simple, he says:

  1. He will post a new entry every Wednesday evening (his local time, NOT Aust EST).
  2. Each entry has a unique theme.
  3. We post a similarly themed image over on our blogs.
  4. We paste a link to our entry in a comment on his blog in the weeks theme. If we've already posted something that fits, simply post the link to the existing entry.
  5. Delirious photo sharing and happiness ensues.

So, if you want to play, leave a comment/link over at Written Inc (or in our comments as well if you like...)

WHAT?!?!? I've been tagged!!

I´m somewhat concerned to announce that Genesis from exPat Mom (Mum) has tagged me for my very first tagged meme EVER!

Ok, so the meme is to bring back some older posts and was started by Mimi Pencil Skirt. I have gone back through some of our old posts, so with seats returned to the upright position, tray tables returned to the seat in front, and please fasten your seat belts, here we go:

Link One: Family - Heartache from when the FIL was having his heart procedure. It WAS a very major procedure, where 49 'spots' on his heart were burnt off so as to bring it back from AF, to normal Sinus rythm. Oh, and on a light note, here is the nephew, and his 'sleeping' friends!

Link Two: Friends - On this very old post, it was announced that P&M were having a baby! Liam, is now 2, how time flys, and now he has a sister!.

Link Three: Yourself (umm, as there are TWO of us, I will only do me and save L for another time if SHE gets tagged!) - This is from when I had my spinal surgery. And here is the scar. What should have been a discectomy, ended up with an additional Laminectomy and a reduction of the central canal to allow more room for the nerves. Instead of a quick 90min operation, turned into nearly 5 hours!

Link Four: Something I Love - My 'on the buses' post form when I was in Llandudno was fantastic, so enjoy it again...!

Link Five: Anything at All - My Graduation... I never thought I would ever get here, but after some hard work, here I am! Also, some photos from when we went to Queensland (Australia) for L's graduation.

Ok, I have to tag 5 people, but I can't think of any so far, but you are ALL on notice...

Ok, after thinking about it for the day, here they are (in no particular order):

Dakel Princess
aka_monty
Bob-kat
kenju
Written Inc.

Each of you have been selected for your own very unique wordsmith (and I would really love to learn something a little different about YOU! So please, play along!
