Photo a Day Challenge - Day 67 Window

We had, in the lounge room, an old box styled air-conditioner unit. It was a noisy heap of rubbish, barely cooled and not at ALL sustainable on both the environment OR the hip pocket. So, we planned to get rid of it. L, the eBay queen, searched and found an old window that would be a suitable replacement... Trouble was, we had to drive to Melbourne to collect it! BUT, this was ok anyway, as we were going to Melbourne in a week or two (at the time) so it was all good!

A few months afterwards, the next door neighbour had a builder in, and we asked him if he could install it for us, and as they say in the classics, the rest is history!!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 66 Something You Wore

OK, this was already blogged about, back in May 2005! But, it was funny then, as it is now!! I just had to share it again - L was a funny thing!! Now, whilst I am not sure what happened to the photo in the original post, it is here though...

I still can NOT believe she went to work wearing odd shoes!!!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 65 5PM

TBH, I didn't and don't have anything for this one, so I will put up a random pic, but the post time, is 5pm!

A little 'back story' about this photo... On Sunday, I went on a steam train trip to Thirlmere. It was a great day, I've not been to Thirlmere in years, and a LOT has changed! The day was part of a steam festival, and the train was long, and full!

photo a Day Challenge - Day 64 A Smile

I had to look through the archives a little to see if there was a photo of me, with a smile. But, as I am generally behind the camera, there wasn't any to choose from! So I looked back through, and I found one of Rosie, with big rosy red cheeks with a great smile!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 63 Bedside

You can just seen in this photo, the bedside tables. These are made from recycled timbers, and we got them some years ago. They're actually quiet heavy as well, as they're hardwood!

There is plenty of room in them, I have mainly undies and so forth, whilst on L's side (still with her things untouched) is some scarf's, books etc...

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 62 Your Neighbourhood

For the most part, my neighbourhood is pretty good... Yeah sure, there are some 'idiots' about the place, we all have them, but it is a really good suburb in general! It is in almost the geographical centre of Sydney, and nearby Parramatta is seen as the centre of Sydney anyway! It is a multicultural municipality, largely Lebanese I would say, but a lot of traditional Heritage listed homes.

Our house, although built in 1927, would be nearly one of the older homes in the immediate area, and certainly in my street!

Now, the 'tough' part of the neighbourhood, and again we all have these, is that we all have some inconsiderate people. Here is a classic example...

Parked In

BUT, the funny thing is was that I had my motorbike, the car behind mine was blocking THEIR driveway, and the car in front of my car, was blocking the neighbours driveway!!! Fools!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 61 Fruit

In 2007, we went to the UN Climate Change Conference in Nusa Dua, Bali. As part of theta, we had Army, Police, a driver and a tour guide to look after us. On day, we went on a tour to the north, past Kerobokan jail, up to Bali Botanic Gardens, Kintamani volcano, terraced rice paddies and to the Floating Temple in Kertha Gosa. But, along the way, we stopped at a roadside fruit stall, and the fruit looked simply amazing...

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 60 Up

PaD March

In 2010, when I went to Europe for the 2nd ETS in France, I also visited Florence and Rome. I also had the opportunity to go UP to the top of the Duomo. For the most part, it was pretty narrow, dark and a little steep, but the last third was very steep. The view from the top though, overlooking Florence, was WELL worth the pain!

Santa Croce Florence

Likewise, in Rome, the trip UP to the top of St Peters was equally (if not more) difficult! Again, and apart from the rain, the view was magnificent, and one that I will remember for a very long time... I will have to do it again, but every time I've been to Rome, 3 times now, its bloody well rained!!!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 59 Something You're Listening Too

Today was another trip to the Dentist for the second, of three, root canal treatments. It all started a week and a bit ago, a pain in the tooth, a lack of sleep and so on, and on that Monday, TWO trips to the Dentist. This is, in itself a miracle given I had an awful experience when I was growing up... But, here is a pic of the two metal probes in the root canal, measuring the depth and that they have to be the same...

Root Canal

But, if reference to something I am listening to, well at the dentist, I had my iPhone with my music library playing, whilst on gas, and the song I really like at the moment is "We Are Young" by FUN and featuring Janelle Monae.

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 58 Money

Hmm... I had a little difficulty in what I wanted to do for this one, but, I was cleaning out my wallet the other day, and I found 5 Chinese Dollars and 10 Malaysian Ringitts! Not that I think it would be that much AUD...

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 57 Something You Ate

Normally, for morning tea, I have a coffee and a toasted sandwich from the cafe near work. But this morning, I felt for something a little different... So, it was an Apple & Rhubarb Crumble... It was very tasty!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 56 Night

Sydney, in my opinion, offers some of the best photography at night, with the Harbour Bridge and Opera House dominating the skyline of course... But, looking across Farm Cove from Mrs Macquaries Point or Fleet Steps, the city skyline offers some great reflections on the water.

Similarly, on the Thames in London, the London Eye and the London Museum also offer a great view.

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 55 Green

Ok, this was a bit of a 'no brainer' for me, cause what do I like thats green...? Lawns and Gardens!! So I went out after mowing the lawns, and I shot some of my front lawn (macro style) which has a predominant Buffalo (Stenotaphrum secondatum) coverage. There is a bit of Couch and Kikuyu as well :( !

I also ventured into the side garden where the Seaside Daisy (Erigeron glaucas) is going slightly rampant - so it may need removal ALL together!!

And in the front bed, where the Roses are, I spotted this little fella budding up...

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 54 Inside Your Bathroom Cabinet

Ok, for the keen eyes around, you might see something a littler weird in this pic, I don't care as I still need to clean it out, but I've selectively shot this photo this way because of it!!

Tonight, I went and saw the movie 'Gone', which was a thriller (of sorts), and the movie was ok. There was some instances that were somewhat questionable as to its 'realism', but in all, a good movie. If you've NOT seen it yet, I would wait for the DVD version and see it that way, as I was a little let down...

In late breaking news, my best mate B and his wife K, announced the safe arrival of baby J, a younger brother to B & S. Well done guys, I am so happy for you!!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 53 Your Shoes

This is a somewhat rare shot, not of my shoes, but of my cat Jasmine sitting at my feet!!! She normally doesn't want to be anywhere NEAR me (she was more of L's cat) unless she wants something, which is generally food!!!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 51 A Fave Photo of You

I don't really have a 'have' photo, and I simply DONT take a good photo, so it has taken some time to find one I like...

It is the day of our wedding, December 17 2000... The photographer actually made us look INTO the sun for the shot, at the time, I hated it, but I can now see where/what he was after...

Wedding Day

Today, a few friends and I went for a trip to Adelaide, just for the day, to have lunch. It was a great day, we drove out to Hahndorf, and then had lunch at the Glenelg Beach. I had the Salt 'n' Pepper Squid which was FANTASTIC!!!

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 50 Handwriting

Today, was a somewhat traumatic day in that the toothache from the weekend, got worse! I called my dentist on my way to work, knowing FULL well they would not be there, but it was just a message service and I had to call back after 8am. So I proceeded into work.

After I arrived, it wasn't too long a wait, when I called, I was given the first time slot, 8.30! I left straight away, and I was there in around 10-12 minutes, which in morning peak, wasn't a bad feat!

Anyways, cutting a long story short, I had two bouts of root canal on the day, some 6 hours apart, and it is now better. I DO have to go back Wednesday week and then the following week though for a fix and a crown respectively!

--------------------

But, today its all about handwriting, right? Well here is a sample of mine, from a meeting, where I was making my own notes from it. Its not very neat, I was hurrying after all, but, its my hand...

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 49 Something you hate to do

Sunday was spent, cleaning, gardening, using the pressure cleaner (again) on the back veranda, and I also did the front path that leads up to the front door, which is actually on the SIDE of the house! But, I digress...

But, the 'something you hate to do' is weeding, but I don't have a photo of me weeding as how can I get a photo of me doing something when theres just me?

BUT, what I can show you is of the back veranda all clean, and good looking all the same!

Back Verandah Dinning Lounge

--------------------

I have had an ACHING tooth for the last couple of days, so I think it will be back to the dentist in the morning sometime! I had a filling a couple of months back, so I hope its not that playing up, as he said at the time, it was a difficult one to do...

Photo a Day Challenge - Day 48 Drink

Tonight, I actually thought about WHAT I wanted to do, and HOW I was going to do it! It just took a little while to get it all sorted!

I originally thought just a simple setup on the kitchen bench, but when I got that shot, it was not quite right. So I started to think where I might find some black things for a background! I eventually found a black tee-shirt, and whilst not right, it was adequate for the purpose. Anyway, here is a shot of the setup

Drink Setup

Now I got a few shots first with the glass empty, and when satisfied, I got the ice and bourbon ready, and here is the result. I kinda like it for a quick setup, using limited resources!

I also managed to get some photos of other things today, Bronty is coming along nicely, and a Crocus, Callistemon as well.
