Federation Square (Fed Square) in Melbourne has all of these eclectic shaped buildings, and here is just one of them, with its shiny, yet oddly shaped, glass facade...

This little Fokker, with the sun shining off the First Officer's Window, was my first time on this type of aircraft...

In Amsterdam, mainly around the airport to do some 'spotting' I hired this little, shiny new, Hyundai i10... Yes, it was LITTLE!

When I went to Floriade, Venlo The Netherlands, one of the displays was 'Dancing Tulips, which were glowing a shiny colour changing whilst they moved around.

Back in 2004, we visited Coventry, and into the old, and new, Cathedral. Here though, the sun is shining through the stained glass window.

Macc, although not technically allowed, often came with me to the cemetery where L is buried. Here he is, reflection of the shiny clean glass, looking towards where she is buried...

Doha, Qatar, has two very different sections to its city, the old and the new. Here, is the new, City Mall, and the sun is shining through the rooftop glass, across 5 levels of shopping floors and down onto the ice-skating rink below.

thursday thirteen
The Fed Square buildings look out of place next door to each other. I hope you didn't have lots of luggage or passengers in your car. The pictures of the Dancing Tulips and Sydney skyline are exquisite.
ReplyDeleteShooting, in the dark, when things (Tulips) are moving, isn't an easy feat, but I managed it by pumping up the ISO to an EXTREME level, and then getting rid of the noise such an ISO gives... Of the joys of editing!
DeleteThanks AVCr8teur!
I loved the shot of the dancing tulips. Also, L would've loved a restaurant near Fussa, Japan called Sun Valley...one of the things they were known for were serving tea in eclectic cups & saucers. Boy, I miss that place! So many beautiful pictures, well done, Bernie!
ReplyDeleteThroughout the house, there is a lot of cups & sauces, with a side cake plate... Most of these are a trio, but they always got 'mixed up' when it came to tea time...
DeleteThanks Janet!!
I really like the plates and water droplets and the second to the last shot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Colleen - the plates are fond memories of my late wife... I like them a lot!
DeleteI inherited my grandmother's eclectic cup and saucer collection and have begun adding to it. Ever watch Firefly? The word "Shiny" is used in it as a catch-all phrase that means "Cool!"
ReplyDeleteNo, its a show I have never seen!! I would like to add more to the 'collection', but there is already a lot of 'things' in the house...
DeleteThanks for the visit though Journeywoman!
An original topic. I love stained glass in bright sunlight, and your perspective of the Grnad Hyatt foyer. My post
ReplyDeleteCarmi, a fellow blogger, has a 'Thematic Photographic' (TP) with a different subject each week, and this week, well, its 'shiny'! Thus the topic this week...
DeleteThanks for stopping by though Heather!!
Brilliant. Love that reflective cityscape.
ReplyDeleteHey Ron, thanks for stopping by!!!
DeleteI am spoiled by such a lovely backdrop hey!!
Some interesting shiny pictures - of course i love the Sydney CBD pic - where were you when you took it? I also really like the bali lily leaf because it is beautiful and a bit magical and the Grand Hyatt because of the amazing design! Thank you for visiting - pretty amazing that I photographed your place of work!!:))
ReplyDeleteOf course, we live in the BEST city hey!!!
DeleteIf you know Mrs Macquaries Point, and Fleet Steps, just north of the steps is a little 'cave' along the path on the 'Sea Wall'... But anywhere along this lower path, will get a good shot...
The Lilly leaf, Bali '07, we went to the UN Climate Change Conference, and I paid a visit (separately) to the Botanic Gardens... Its a stunning Garden!!
Next time your in the Gardens, pop in and say hi!!
I had to laugh at you saying how small that car was - I'm so used to tiny cars now, it just looks normal to me! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy TT
With me being 6'3", it was small!!! I felt as though I had my knees around my ears whilst driving, and also with the steering wheel on the wrong side to normal, we sit/drive on the righthand side of the car here in Australia, it also felt weird...
DeleteThanks for popping by Kimberley!!
Cool pictures. I feel like I'm there with you. Thanks for sharing.
