In 2009, I had two interviews for different positions in Doha. On the second trip, I also had a trip out into the desert and down to the Gulf coast. Now, here is my driver, Basim, who didn't take off his sunnies!!!

------Ok, I'm not particularly happy with this photo, but, Im not precious and I will post it anyway... I was out in the Newnes State Forrest, and I wanted to get down to the 'Lost City'. Unfortunately, for me, there was a bog hole that I got stuck in... Oh well, I got towed out and came home instead!

------In this shot, we had not long left Berlin's Tegel airport, shot through the clouds, and started tracking towards Helsinki's Vataa airport. I like flying, above the clouds or countryside gives you time to take it all in, ponder whats going on, and just enjoying the scenery below... Ahhh the bliss...

------This is, although not technically, a sign... But, its painted onto the very edge of the platform at Woolooware railway station in Sydney. Its just a reminder that, there can be a gap between the train and the platform...

------Its often said that at times, you come to a 'fork' in the road ahead of you... That came to me today, but not in a way you may think! I was taken out this afternoon, with a hood over my head, to an 'unknown' destination... I had mentioned to one of my 'captors' a few weeks prior, that I have a pretty good understanding of the roads of Sydney, and that a blindfold would be pointless (trying not to spoil the surprise, yet trying to keep them thinking of alternatives)!
When we arrived, I had sort of guessed where we were as soon as I sensed we were under a tunnel. And, I was correct, as we were at Eastern Creek Raceway! I was going on a 'hot lap' in a V8 super car!!! OMG, I was SO excited!!! After completing the paperwork (Indemnity) I had to get a race suit, and then onto a photo in front of a car, before a briefing.
Thanks so much J & M for the b'day present, it was fantastic, and something I will never forget!!

------What a day... Luch, at La Mono, was great and we had a lovely lunch. Afterwards, we came back home for cake, which C, 'the next sister down' to L, baked the cake. And WHAT a cake it was! Here is Master J helping me blow out the candles...
When it came to time to leave, Master J, 2yo, decided he wanted to stay "just 4 more minutes' he was saying as he scampered off in the other direction! So I ran after him and picked him up, and on the way to the car, we had a little chat... Funny J!

------Ok, whilst this subject may not be loud, I suspect that some looking at it will scream LOUD!!

Whilst today is my birthday, I was kept busy running to and fro to buntings, thanks to Miss Bronty on not one, but two accounts! The first was to replace the chords on the cafe blinds on the back patio. This was easily done, but when I got home and saw her sitting at the back door with her head through the screen, it was time to go back and get some new screen...

------We have a lot of children's books, some are new, like this one, and a lot are old - three sets of the Noddy Book series (all hard covers). Some we got mainly for the pictures, and the illustrations in this book are simply stunning!
Little Cat and the Big Red Bus (Jane Godwin and Ann Walker) is a fascinating little book, and as I said, the illustrations are wonderful.
Country children often have long bus rides to get to school and Little Cat is one of those children, who along with her sister go up and down and around, stopping and starting twice a day. One day Little Cat’s sister is ill and she has to make the journey alone, but oh no, she is tired and sleepy on her way home and misses her stop. Anna Walker has illustrated this rhythmic, gentle book with charming simplicity and it is in the endpapers we discover more about Little Cat’s life and her interests.

In other news, the Queen Mary 2 sailed out from Sydney this evening, and I didn't/couldn't get a shot of it passing the Opera House as it was simply way to dark! BUT, before it set sail, I got this shot of the Opera House, city skyline, and the QM2 is just off on the right hand side...

------We had, in the lounge room, an old box styled air-conditioner unit. It was a noisy heap of rubbish, barely cooled and not at ALL sustainable on both the environment OR the hip pocket. So, we planned to get rid of it. L, the eBay queen, searched and found an old window that would be a suitable replacement... Trouble was, we had to drive to Melbourne to collect it! BUT, this was ok anyway, as we were going to Melbourne in a week or two (at the time) so it was all good!
A few months afterwards, the next door neighbour had a builder in, and we asked him if he could install it for us, and as they say in the classics, the rest is history!!

------OK, this was already blogged about, back in May 2005! But, it was funny then, as it is now!! I just had to share it again - L was a funny thing!! Now, whilst I am not sure what happened to the photo in the original post, it is here though...
I still can NOT believe she went to work wearing odd shoes!!!
