Friday Fill-Ins - And day ONE in Hong Kong

Friday Fill-Ins

  1.  Life is SO cruel at times... This last week, I heard of a friends battle with cancer, whilst cancer took a mate from school.
  2. A cold wind will soon blow, and cast a little spell. Causing all of the leaves to turn, and make them look unwell, and then a little few will fall, whilst others rather fell. (not quite a rhym, but close...)
  3. I knew it was love when I first saw her, poor sweet Bronty.
  4. When in Hong Kong last week, it lacked sunshine and blue skies.
  5. A little nap is wonderful in the late afternoon, especially when soaking up the autumnal sunshine!
  6. Steak and Chicken, as is Lamb, are my favorite things to eat for dinner.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to editing MORE photos from the trip away, tomorrow my plans include removing the Lavender Hedge out the front, and tidying the front garden and Sunday, I want to have a relaxing birthday, as my in-laws are throwing me a BBQ for lunch!

As you know from Wednesdays Post, I have recently been to Hong Kong. In the first couple of days, we did a few 'tourist' type stuff, whilst on the Saturday, it was a day at the Horse Races at Sha Tin; I will post about that tomorrow (I promise) when I have edited those photos tonight!
After arriving late in the afternoon on Thursday, we caught up with my mate there, and we went to dinner that night; a Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui. Dinner was great, we had a few beers, and then retired for the night quite late.
The following morning though, we had decided to go up to "The Peak", even though it was quite hazy! We walked to the Ferry terminal and caught the Star Ferry across to Hong Kong Island. But, this time, instead of catching the tram up, we caught the bus, which took about 40 minutes or so, but it is actually well worth it (not to mention, it saves time waiting for the tram)! On a clear day, it would be much better, as it winds its way around the suburbs of Central Hong Kong, past Happy Valley Racecourse. We saw the 'Ding Ding's', a Double Decker tram, road workers working 'hard', and some pretty amazing architecture.

When we arrived at the top, yep, not much to see, but I still had fun anyways, so we went and had something to eat at Bubba Gumps! Food was ok, just, but it hit the spot.

The Peak

There's Hong Kong (I think)

We then made our way to catch the tram down, which is an experience in itself, as it is steep, and in reverse! We then headed back to the Star Ferry for the trip across the harbour, and then onto some camera lens shopping. A busy day in the end!!

Friday Fill-Ins - A Christmas Edition

Friday Fill-Ins - A Christmas Edition

  1. Ahhhh - TODAY, is my last day at work for a WEEK!!!! I am lucky enough to have Christmas, Boxing Day and the 27th off work... Although I do have to come back in next Friday, I am also in Monday (NYE) for half a day...
  2. I have SLOWLY been preparing to go shopping for Christmas presents... Sure, I have done a little, but I still have SO MUCH to do still!
  3. Creating a perfect Christmas gift for someone, can be difficult at times... Not knowing if they would like it, need it... I really have no idea at times!
  4. SO looking forward to a few days of relaxation over the Christmas period.
  5. Kick start to Christmas will be a few days of madness shopping, then a relaxing evening catching up with some friends on Christmas eve for a drink or two.
  6. The Mayan end of the world isn't happening, and thank goodness, what would have happened to Christmas!!??.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to catching up with some friends before heading to dinner of fish 'n' chips, tomorrow my plans include a drive north to Newcastle area (instead of going to the Carols in the Domain and Sunday, I want to finish my Christmas shopping!

Friday Fill-Ins

Friday Fill-Ins Time, So...here we go!

Hosted by Janet at Friday Fill-Ins
  1. I saw on the news last night, the most HORRIFIC news of a Police Officer having been killed in the line of duty yesterday... Read more HERE.
  2. I had an interesting 'discussion'* through the week, where a pretty big hint was dropped about something... I pleaded for more information, which never was given, but I did ask for a hint...just a hint, please! ALL to no avail though!
  3. Once I had wanted a new car, not a secondhand one, but a new one. I can't see this happening soon though, but I am considering a new, secondhand, one now...
  4. I use to really enjoy swimming, and I want to get back into it for some fitness. Its quite good, minimal impact, high cardio, so it should be good to lose weight, improve fitness and generally, get healthier! I should also get slimmer, like I was in times past.
  5. The road led to Goulburn during the week, an afternoon drive south took me some 5 hours return, nearly 400klm, but I had fun, it was peaceful and I enjoyed listening to Birdie, Christina Perri, Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett.
  6. The evening light, as well as in the morning light, offers the best for photography, especially at the airport when spotting. Its often referred to as "The Golden Hour"!

  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to dinner with J, C & M (maybe; I've left my glasses at home, and I have eye strain already, and a headache brewing, so we'll see) at L'etoile in Paddington, tomorrow my plans include an early morning swim with Bronty at the beach, getting washing up-to-date, lawns mowed and Sunday, I want to have a BBQ lunch with L's family, for her birthday (during next week), and I will also be heading to the cemetery with some flowers as well!

Friday Fill-Ins

Friday Fill-Ins; here we go!
  1. Oh, that cat fight this morning, at 1.20am, IN MY BEDROOM, was not at all fun... Stray cat, stop hanging around here, Jasmine doesn't want to be out at night playing and guarding her territory, and nor do I at that time!
  2. It's a sure sign of a hot summer ahead, when yesterday's temperatures (mid 30's), which is uncommon for this time of year...  When it happened, it means we have already had more hot days (so far in October) than ALL of last summer.
  3. Are we having another wet weekend again?? Forecast says no, but, we'll see how it pans out...
  4. My heart skipped more than a beat the other day, after driving over the Harbour Bridge and heading for the Gore Hill Freeway, about 80klm, and this car on the exit ramp lane decided to change lanes, I broke (HARD) swerved (thankfully the car next lane, behind, saw what was happening, and I missed the car by millimetres... It would have been a very hard hit, and I would have forced her into the car in-font that she was going around... it would have been very bad!
  5. Do you believe in the saying, 'Good things come to those who wait'? I do, and as I am still waiting, there must be LOTS of good things coming my way
  6. I'm a semi-reasonable cook, and I love to do a roast... Maybe, a Sunday roast this weekend?
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to an early night given lack of sleep from 1.20am and attending a funeral this morning, tomorrow my plans include going to 'Bark in the Park' with Bronty, and maybe down to the beach afterwards for a swim and Sunday, I want to get the lawns done again, boring I hear you say and yes, I agree, but I enjoy doing them... There is also the Motor Bike Race from Phillip Island to watch/listen to!

Friday Fill-Ins!!

Friday Fill-Ins!
And...here we go!
  1. I hope I can get all of the 'odd jobs' done around the house on Saturday, as Sunday its the 'Sculptures by the Sea'!
  2. What to do when you have to much to do? Head down, bum up and get it done - and this will be my motto for Saturday!
  3. Boy I sure did enjoy walking OUT of the office a little while ago for lunch... Its not long NOW until the weekend hits!!!
  4. Remind me to call the Vet's before going away, (touch wood) just in case something happens whilst I am away!
  5. What does the price of fuel have to be, before you 'FILL UP' rather than 'TOP UP'? For me, its all swings and roundabouts, in that I dont wait too much... I will always try and fill up at the bottom of the cycle, but a few times I've been caught out, and its gone up either overnight, or whilst at work! Currently, in Sydney, is it c. $1.55cpl
  6. It makes me happy, hearing about achievements by family and friends, especially those who are turing 3yo over the next month...
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to an old boys reunion, tomorrow my plans include mowing lawns, washing Bronty, at least two loads of washing/hang on line, dusting, vacuuming, mopping  the house, weeding Rose Garden (Onion Weed) and fertilising the gardens out the front. Weeding/pruning rear garden beds and fertilisng both the Wisteria and Gardenias as with the Murraya hedge and the Clivia's and Sunday, I want to chill out and relax, but alas, would like to go to the 'Sculptures by the Sea' at Bondi and Tamarama Beach!

Friday Fill-Ins

Friday Fill-Ins...
  1. I said, I would fertilise the lawn (front) and weed the Rose Garden the other weeek... I did, and the lawn is greening up nicely and the Roses have lots of shoots.
  2. Coffee is what I'm craving right now, so I may go over to the Pavillion for one!
  3. I was thinking about what to do for dinner last night, I really wanted a marinated chicken, but there wasn't any, so I opted for a small Roast Pork - it was YUMM!!
  4. I am now (publicly) announcing that I will be going on a diet, and using the the 'change' on saturday as the catlyst, will you?
  5. We (Bronty) should have been finished her 'heat' by now, but she is still in season, but is keeping herself very clean, which is grateful indeed!
  6. I will be washing Bronty this weekend, and cleaning the car, whether I want to or not!
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to see the GP to pick up a script, then to the chemist to pick up the script beofre a fish 'n' chips dinner, tomorrow my plans include a 10.30 appointment at the GP for my vacinations for my upcoming trip to Vietnam, shopping for new pillows (and SO much more). It is also time to put the clocks FORWARD one hour, so HELLO Daylight Savings and Sunday, I want to sit and watch the V8's up at Bathurst, but there are more important things to do! BUT, Sunday night, Channel 10 is showing the movie about Julian Assange, and I'd like to watch that...

Friday Fill-Ins #3

And...here we go!
  1. I don't know what it's like to travel in a 'set group itinerary; I only know how to travel as myself and 'footlose and fancy free' (so to speak).
  2. "Rollercoaster" would be a great title for my life.
  3. A couple of weeks from now the football season will be all over, and it will be cricket time, which is a game I love as I was once a Curator.
  4. Looking forward to any number of things, but in particular, an upcoming trip to Vietnam...
  5. I drove from Sydney to Melbourne and caught the ferry across to Tasmania back in '87 on a driving holiday. Had a great time, all those years ago...
  6. Seeing the Orchids, especially the mini Cymbidium, I was happy.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Swans v Collingwood game, where (hopefully, the Swans will win a place for next weekends Grand Final, tomorrow my plans include watering in the fertiliser I put out last week, possibly a 7yo birthday party as well and Sunday, I want to sit back, relax and maybe, as its forecast to be nearly 30c, go for a ride on the bike!

Friday Fill-Ins

It's Friday Fill-Ins time, so here we go again...

  1. Sunshine, and hopefully summer, is coming soon, and  I am so looking forward to it... I love the warmth of summer.
  2. Kyle and Jackie O talking on the radio, morning radio is good, and it sets my mood for the day. They were talking about visiting a school, and talking to the kids in kindergarten, when one of the kids said, "I want to be a builder' is the last thing I overheard someone say.
  3. I found a recipe for "Beer Can Chicken", where you put a whole bird, and push it onto a can of beer through its, well... you know, right?, and it really tasted good!
  4. I'm looking forward to so many things, but more importantly, a rest over this weekend... Perhaps, other than gardening, a day in front of the TV watching movies.
  5. Right now I am somewhere I'd rather not be, both physically and mentally! I am at work, shhh, but my head hurts. Maybe a ride this afternoon to clear my head.
  6. Bronty makes me smile! She is stupid at times, yet her unconditional love and happiness when I get home, just makes it all better.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to fish 'n' chips for dinner, tomorrow my plans include mowing the lawns, throwing out a lot of chook manure out and watered in and Sunday, I want to do NOTHING at all and watch lots of TV! Although, Wisteria Gardens is open, so I may end up down there as it is a beautiful garden, with lots of Spring flowers!

Friday Fill-Ins

Something new, so why not!
  1. I am really REALLY tired today, not necessarily 'physically' tired as I have been sleeping well, more 'mentally' tired looking for these gates.
  2. It seems, that now its spring, its time to start renovating the lawn. But first, I need to get me a new mower as the old one 'blew up' last weekend!
  3. Bronty really makes me laugh at times, especially when she knows that it may be 'time' to go out, but 'acts' asleep or disinterested!!
  4. Did you know that birds often hit planes up in the air, and that more than 3 million people fly EVERY day?
  5. I looked more closely and I saw that its often the little things that matter the most.
  6. I'm so glad that, in a few hours, I will be heading home, well not straight home as I am going to the next-sister-down (in-law) home for dinner tonight with my nephews!
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to dinner with the family, tomorrow my plans include getting the lawns cut, fertilised and watered in and Sunday, I want to be a great day, surprise filled and lots of fun!
Clivia's are out at the moment, and this is one outside my office (all I had was my iphone sorry)

  5. I keep meaning to keep in contact with friends, but its hard to call when they move and don't give me their new number...
  6. I haven't done ANY housework yet.
